We highly recommend grabbing this gorgeous book at our LA location, because it is full of recipes perfect for any day! Otherwise, you can check out more of Tara's recipes here and check out the full recipe for her bright Default Smoothie below!

Default Smoothie:

Ingredients:

  • 1 smallish navel orange or a fattish clementine, peeled and split into segments
  • 1 crisp apple (such as Honeycrisp, Gala, Granny Smith), stemmed and cut into chunks (the core and seeds are fine)
  • 1 banana, peeled
  • 2 cups (135g) stemmed, torn kale, packed (about 1/2 a bunch)
  • 1 heaping tablespoon nut butter
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) filtered apple juice or plain nut milk, plus more as needed

Directions:

Combine all ingredients in an upright blender and process until liquefied. If the smoothie is too tick, carefully incorporate more liquid as needed, slowly through the feed hole on the lid with the motor running. Pour into glasses and drink right away. Serves 2.

DIY Recycled Bottle Vases!

Reuse, Recycle, and Reclaim! Nothing beats taking a piece of trash and turning it into a treasure, which is exactly what we wanted to do. With outdoor entertaining at an all time high, we saw that glass bottles were being easily tossed aside and took the chance to create a simple, fun DIY perfect for Summer! With only glass bottles and a few colors of spray paint, these DIY recycled bottle vases make the perfect centerpiece for your next outdoor celebration!

We spray-painted our used glass bottles with a white base coat and let them dry overnight, then selected a metallic spray paint as our accent color to create some contrast. After they dry, turn the bottle upside down (and don't forget to protect the area you're working over with scrap paper), then spray the paint with light pressure at a 45 degree angle over the bottle. Move the  can upwards on the bottle while continuously spraying another layer to achieve a subtle ombre effect!

We also spray painted a few bottles entirely with the metallic bronze color to create a mixture of finishes. Make sure to let the bottles dry at least overnight before adding water. The next step; add a mixture of your favorite flowers! We chose a palette of purple, pinks, and greens for a pop of color.

Stunning. easy, and a great way to recycle! We can't wait to put these vases to use for the rest of Summer. What color would you love to see these in? Happy Crafting!

A Perfect Summer Tablescape

Radiant heat, flourishing succulents, a small breeze, and a vivid palette of colors. The signs of Summer are ripe with a carefree ambience and we couldn't wait for the excuse to take our entertaining outside onto the patio. With our Pantry  stocked with dainty details + cool colors, we knew it was the perfect time to put a new spin on Summer with the perfect tablescape for any summer soiree!

Soft hues in cool colors set the tone for our entire tablescape. Succulents, worn votives, and soft details were a definite must we knew we had to incorporate!

Mix and match cool browns, teals & blues, white, and grey to stay on the cool side of the color wheel. We layered a striped linen between plates and tucked the back underneath the bottom plate for extra appeal. Votives make the cutest containers! Pot succulents and top with white pebbles for extra pop.

These tarnished grey votives were a perfect match. Amazing texture, right?!  We incorporated  these along with a creamy white votive that has a reflective, seashell-like finish. For the larger succulents we added a few larger white accent stones.

Slightly tarnished silverware is the perfect addition. They have just enough wear to be elegant & sophisticated, but also carry a whimsical Summer feel that is a necessary addition for a complete tablescape. Votives are mixed and matched along the table, lovely glassware is added, and you're ready to celebrate Summer!

While we love a bright, vivid palette for summer, we were in love with this calming tablescape that would literally set the table for a sophisticated summer event. Succulents, lovely votives, and captivating colors: what else can we ask for?! We hope you found some inspiration (and find a reason to get outside)!
