As you prepare your garden for the spring season, make sure that you order summer-flowering bulbs and seeds ahead of time! These bulbs and seeds should be planted in the spring so that they reach full bloom during the summer months. Some of our favorites summer-blooming flowers include calla lilies and dahlias!

In the month before spring, you should also clean your up all the leaves and fallen branches from your garden area. After the planting area is clean, rake the soil and level it so that when you plant the seeds and bulbs they will grow on a level plane.

Additionally, try to clean all of your gardening tools are clean ahead of time! This will prevent the spread of unwanted pests and disease in your garden. First, remove large clumps of soil with a hard-bristle brush. Next, hose down all of the tools with water and once dry store them in your shed or garage.

Most plants will not grow to their full potential if the seeds are placed directly into the soil. It is important to start growing these seeds indoors ahead of time! In the weeks leading up to spring, plant your seeds in a small container indoors. When the spring comes around, then transplant these small plants into the garden where they will thrive.
